Democratic Primary- No decent candidate that can beat Trump
Democratic primary is getting complicated. Due analysis is required.
(1) Bernie has trounced his opponents yesterday in Nevada. This shows left votes have consolidated behind him. But it was a caucus and not a closed primary. In caucus, left leaning candidates will have advantage since independents can vote. Last time in closed primary, Bernie was totally obliterated while he did well in caucus.
(2) Issue is, selecting him as Dem nominee means another 4 years of Trump. He can't beat Trump. Because there are a lot of Democrats, perhaps more than leftists believe in market capitalism but a better capitalism. They ( and me) do not believe in state capitalism in the name of socialism that Bernie is promoting. Because everywhere socialism has been experimented, it has failed. Besides Bernie and his team are radical and undemocratic. They do not believe in inclusion and difference in opinion. Simply put, they display all the paraphernalia of a communist mindset. That will piss off majority of democracy loving democrats.
(3) Now, advantage to Bernie, moderates in Democratic party didn't consolidate behind a single candidate. Mayor Pete will do well in liberal white states. But clearly in Nevada he has failed among Latino voters who are probably not yet ready for a Gay president. That's why Joe did well in Nevada. This is pretty ominous sign. Democratic moderates need to have a consensus candidate against Bernie or they will be trounced against Trump. Meaning they will be losing the presidential race one more time to GOP.
(4) Pete is by far the best Presidential candidate that Dem can field. Young and intelligent, passionate and sensible, we can't ask more. But US is not European country and it looks like he will have issue among conservative Latino, White and other voters. Nevada is a clear cut indication of that.
What's next ?
Standing behind Joe? Very less chance he can even win primary. If he can then, he can unite Dem base.
Liz has lost to Bernie. She should quit,
Mayor Bloomberg ? Won't do well among left liberal Dem base.
Overall - Bernie is getting almost walkover.
Chance of beating Trump in 2020 is getting thinner.
